Bio
I was born and raised in the city of Howrah, the twin sister of city of Kolkata, West Bengal, India. With a rich Bengali cultural heritage of more than 500 years, it instilled in me a quest for knowledge. After obtaining my Bachelors and Masters in Zoology from the University of Calcutta, the complexity of cancer biology made me pursue my Ph.D. from the same university, under the esteemed guidance of Dr. Anirban Ghosh & Dr. Pritha Bhattacharjee, focusing on the debated role of microglia (resident brain macrophages), a putative immune sentinel, in human glial tumors. To integrate my background in cancer immunology with cancer genetics and signal transduction, I joined the Tanas lab as a Post Doctoral Research Scholar in the Department of Pathology, where I am studying how the Hippo pathway regulates the immune microenvironment in sarcomas. In an ongoing collaboration with the Quelle lab, I am also studying the role how RABL6A regulates YAP activation in malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor.
In my leisure time, I like to spend time with family, listening to music, traveling, stargazing, and trying new foods.
