Bio, Research Interests, and Projects

Born in Lincoln, Nebraska, I attended Doane University for my undergraduate degree where I studied biology and played soccer. During my time at Doane I was an IDeA Networks of Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE) scholar during my junior and senior years. My undergraduate research examined the relationship between chromatin architecture and gene expression.

Now my focus has shifted from molecular biology to cancer research after joining the Tanas lab here at the University of Iowa. I am currently following up on a recent drug screen done by the lab against cells expressing YAP-TFE3, a gene fusion that causes epithelioid hemangioendothelioma, a vascular sarcoma.
